About Us

• Mission: Our mission: rescue and transform the lives of at-risk maasai girls by providing food & clothing, shelter, medical attention, counseling, education and training in a loving familial and safe environment. we purposely and intentionally prepare the girls for a future of financial independence and self-sufficiency by developing a well-documented personalized plan for each girl that aligns with their personality, interests and talents. the scope of our mission is to accept, from local government social welfare officials, highly at-risk girls who are avoiding female genital mutilation (fgm) or other extreme abuses, early childhood marriage, or are abandoned with no immediate family. the typical age of the girls who are residents at mgrc range from 3-18 years. in line with government regulations, when a girl reaches adulthood (age of 18) and is still in either government or vocational school, she can choose to stay at mgrc as long as she completes her individualized plan. of course, if she chooses to leave mgrc at this time, we honor her decision. our vision: change the mindset of how maasai girls are valued and thus break the cycle of poverty and oppression in the maasai community by raising strong, financially independent and self-reliant women. mgrc women will possess the acumen, education, management skills, vocational training and life skills needed to be successful business owners, educators, professionals, community leaders and good parents. our success utilizes a unique entrepreneurial model and is built on the pillars of esg framework: environmental, social and governance. mgrc will create a social enterprise that breaks the bonds of dependency and need for charity. by serving the local tourism market with a unique and unmatched experience, the social enterprise will generate enough profits to fully fund operational expenses of mgrc. this social enterprise is scalable and replicable, and will be successfully managed by dedicated and passionate local tanzanians.
