During fiscal year 2022, Harris Health provided $796 million of charity care, delivering a level of quality that rivals top-notch private institutions. Harris Health System boasts numerous clinical services that are among the best in the nation.

About Us

Harris Health System is a fully integrated healthcare system that cares for all residents of Harris County, Texas. We are the first accredited healthcare institution in Harris County to be designated by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a Patient-Centered Medical Home. We are one of the largest systems in the country to achieve this particular quality standard.

Our system includes community health centerssame-day clinics, three multi-specialty clinic locations, a dental center, mobile health units, and two full-service hospitals.

Healthcare for the Homeless

Harris Health System wants to make access to healthcare services easier for people experiencing homelessness. Their "Healthcare for the Homeless Program" provides primary medical care, dental care, mental health and substance use services, and a variety of support services to persons experiencing homelessness. The program provides eligibility and registration services through shelter-based clinics and other homeless service locations in greater Houston.

The Healthcare for the Homeless Program:

  • Is delivered via mobile units and shelter-based clinics at locations around the Greater Houston area
  • Enables the early detection, treatment, and prevention of healthcare problems; resulting in healthier individuals
  • Decreases the need for emergency center use for homeless individual's primary care needs
  • Increases immunization rates of homeless children
  • Increases tuberculosis and other infectious disease screening and follow-ups
  • Reduces or eliminates barriers to healthcare that homeless individuals may experience

Open Access Locations

Harris Health's Healthcare for the Homeless Program's services are open to all people experiencing homelessness. There are no disqualifications for shelter status. We see patients based on appointments, and then on a first-come, first-serve basis.
