Interfaith Caring Ministries

Description

About Us

Interfaith Caring Ministries (ICM) is a non-profit charitable organization that assists those in need. Our mission honors our faith and strengthens our community one family at a time. We do this by helping local individuals, families, and seniors in need. ICM was founded in 1985. A group of concerned Clear Lake and League City churches founded our organization. The church members were concerned about the growing needs of families in the local area. Community and church leaders recognized a need to coordinate their efforts to help a growing population of poor families and those facing sudden financial crises. The goal was to create a central organization that would serve those in need in collaboration. Rather than working independently, the various houses of worship would minimize the overlap in assistance and maximize the effectiveness of the services provided.

ICM provides a wide range of services to the unhomed including individualized Case Management.

About Our Food Pantry

The pantry is filled with food sorted by type and their associated expiration dates. Clients can receive a wide range of goods that are fresh, boxed and/or canned. Fresh food includes a selection of meats, eggs, dairy products, and bread. We can also supply much-needed hygiene products and house sanitation supplies. During the holiday season, clients can expect all of the hallmarks of a celebratory feast along with a turkey, ham, chicken, or game foul. ICM’s goal is to provide clients with large quantities of nutritious food that will keep them healthy and energized at work and school. ICM’s average food distribution feeds a family of four for a week or more.

The food pantry has grown from a small warehouse, where staff members store excess food in their offices. It has grown to be the second largest full-fledged food bank in Galveston County. Since 2009, ICM has operated its food bank in a 6,000 square foot building adjacent to its main building in League City, Texas. The building is used to store purchased and donated food, sanitation items, infant products, and other items that cannot be purchased with SNAP or food stamps. In 2012, the building was expanded to include a walk-in freezer. In 2021, a walk in refrigerator was added.

Donate Food

The ICM Food Pantry relies heavily on donations of food and home goods from businesses, churches, community organizations, individuals, and schools. We need these donations to keep the food pantry adequately stocked with enough provisions.

In addition to food drives by area churches, many community organizations hold an annual food drive which helps the ICM Food Pantry to stay stocked.

Monetary donations to the ICM Food Pantry allow us to purchase items to meet our clients basic dietary and personal needs.
