About Us

• Mission: St. matthew's house exists to change lives in a spiritual environment that is both compassionate and disciplined as we provide housing, food, and recovery for people experiencing hunger, homelessness and addiction. what began as a modest soup kitchen over 30 years ago has grown into a comprehensive continuum of care designed to empower individuals for a life of self-sufficiency. today, st. matthew's house operates a soup kitchen, mobile food pantry, emergency and transitional housing facilities, substance abuse recovery programs, and employment training initiatives. to generate revenue for our work and jobs for our residents, st. matthew's house developed an innovative social enterprise model, which includes eight thrift stores, a catering company, a restaurant, and a hotel & conference center. these businesses fund nearly 50% of our operating budget and help cover administrative costs so that nearly 100% of every dollar donated can go directly to support our life-changing programs.
